Bayer Garden Design creates a relationship with clients that is communicative
and productive, in order to build a successful garden. Together we make
decisions about how our team will provide services to best suit your
scope of work, your long term goals, and including your budget, installation
schedule, maintenance, and style. We are flexible, and as every project
is unique, we shape our services to the project’s needs. Below
please find descriptions of services we often provide to our clients.
COMPLETE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS
A new landscape project typically requires full design and documents
that can be bid on by contractors, and permitted through local municipalities,
and we can provide this level of professional design. Often projects
require integration with new construction or remodeling projects, and
our services also, include collaborating with architects, engineers
and site specific conditions. Full design starts with conceptual plans,
including photos, design features, basic layout of Hardscape and Plants.
Once this master plan is approved, further detailed design is developed
and construction documents are produced. Included in these documents
are designs of Hardscape, Planting Plan with detailed documentation,
Structures, Water Features, Irrigation and Lighting.
We complete the project with As-Built document, equipment manuals, and
a maintenance guide to your garden.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION
As the client’s advocate, we provide continual professional and
administrative services to ensure quality control, adherence of installation
to design intent, and onsite consulting during construction. We have
found this phase of the project to be critical to the implementation
of your design and check that all details are attended to in your better
interest. Often many trades are involved in the construction process
and coordination is required. Our team is well versed in construction
practices, and code compliance. We hold installers to the new CalGreen
code as well as standard practices in green building. Our constant attention
is to the successful completion and ongoing maintenance of your new
garden.
SPIFFS
Often our clients need a little garden face-lift. We provide a quick
design development process, creating a sketch of a new idea, quotes
on the construction of new elements such as a patio, water feature,
pergola, or revised garden bed. Sometimes changes in a site or adjacent
sites, create new drainage and sun/shade concerns and changes are required.
We provide quick, cost effective design solutions to the small project.
We can facilitate the installation or defer to your own management of
the process
GARDENING
OVER THE YEARS ...
During the course of any garden’s life plants will serve well,
and sometimes then need to retire. These plants may need to be relocated
or just go to their happy home (away). We can produce an existing
planting plan that will serve as a guide for maintenance and act as
an archival document. We also recommend new plants for certain areas
or purposes and then provide them for you, or can leave it to you
or your gardener to procure and install. Our aim is to provide solid
solutions and professional advice. We are your garden’s “life
coach” and can chime in when called upon, or be there every
step of the way.
Maintenance of your garden is part of the process. Whether you are
a hands-on gardener, hire out certain projects regularly, or retain
a gardening service, maintenance pays off. Your garden is an extension
of you and your family and offers a place to relax, entertain, and
“just be.” This is also a space that surrounds your house
and completes it. An investment in your garden offers many returns.
DESIGN AND HORTICULTURAL CONSULTING
A garden often needs a check in and consultation to review design
questions, and the health and habit of existing plants. These sessions
can produce new ideas, and options to consider. A report and sketches
if applicable are submitted as a record, and projects can be handled
at your own pace.
GARDENING AND CONSTRUCTION SERVICES AND REFERRALS
Our firm properly vets and recommends licensed contractors for our
designs and work. We are happy to work with new contractors as well,
and would review our standards and specifications with them on your
behalf. We have no financial relationship with contractors as we prefer
to remain a neutral and professional team leader, acting as your representative.
STAGING
As a service to our clients we can provide staging for events or for
real estate sales. Many realtors have reported that the garden staging,
which can be fairly limited, provides a tenfold return on the investment.
In our region, every square foot counts, and a sparkling garden really
shows off the property.
PROFESSIONAL FEES
Our team is flexible and will provide whatever services necessary
to meet your needs. A professional design, and detailed supervision
of its installation and maintenance are available to you. We provide
a proposal to you after an initial consultation that lists what we
believe will be needed to complete a successful project. This proposal
offers our services in phases including a master plan, then construction
documents, meetings, project management and onsite supervision, and
as-built plans and documentation. Our work is invoiced on a monthly
basis. For any materials that we source and purchase on your behalf,
we offer industry discounts, include our standard margin, and standard
warranties on the material, and require deposits prior to order.
For Spiffs and Maintenance we bill based on Time and Material practices.
All invoices are payable upon receipt. We do accept major credit cards.
